Hello!

Welcome to Dressed To Match. I’m Michelle and I coordinate my outfits to match pieces of art!

If you saw my Instagram stories yesterday (saved in highlights if not) you know I spent the day at @sfmoma having the absolute time of my life matching a few favorite pieces, including Spectrum I, 1953 by Ellsworth Kelly.

I’m definitely an art dork. I am the director of an art gallery with a degree in Art History and I have to be honest –  the experience of going to a museum is exhilarating for me! Pair that enthusiasm with three outfit changes, walking around the museum in 4 inch heels, trying to be “photogenic” still while enjoying the moment and seeing my creative vision through… I mean WOW it’s quite the experience! I was literally so jacked about these matches when I got home that night that I tossed and turned and couldn’t sleep because my mind was racing!

That’s creativity for you. When you put everything into seeing your vision through and you overcome the inevitable bumps along the road (Umm so that painting isn’t on display anymore?!), gratifying doesn’t begin to describe it! That feeling goes for all things creative, I think, even with something as silly as sourcing an outfit that perfectly matches a painting.

I briefly mentioned in another post that I took a long break from creating my own matches to focus on other passions, projects, and some pretty amazing life events – I got married in May 2019! There were times where I felt really guilty about not creating new content. I felt like I was letting all of the page’s followers down and honestly like I was being lazy by just regramming other people matching pieces of art! But the break was definitely a good thing, now that I have the time and creative capacity, I’m so thrilled to be creating new content. The fun is as much about the process as it is the final product. I love hunting for the right piece of clothing and the satisfaction of putting the two together!
